During the seminar programme on 15 January, organised by UK health and safety charity NEBOSH, global experts shared their advice and expertise for improving health and safety in the workplace. The event came as the UAE continues to prioritise occupational health and safety, recognising its critical role in ensuring the wellbeing of its workforce and fostering a safe and productive working environment.

Alongside Dr Al Hashmi, speakers included Dr. Hadi Al Badi, Director, QHSE, ESG, ERM & BCM Masdar at Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Eugene Mayne, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Tristar Group, and Dr. Ahmad Ghamdi, Vice President - QHSSE at International Maritime Industries (Saudi Arabia).

Presentations covered leadership, sustainability, road safety, culture and much more. Speaking on governance and leadership in occupational health and safety, Dr Al Hashmi spoke to delegates about the UAE Standard UAE/.S.5052:2022 Governance and Leadership Requirements for Occupational Safety and Health, Federal Committee for Occupational Safety and Health developments since 2018 and the work that has taken place so far in the development of the ISO 45009 standard.

The programme also included representatives from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management, the International Network of Safety & Health Professional Organisations, the Australian Institute of Health and Safety and AKSA Akrilik A.Ş.
