Graduation is a very special day for anyone, but even more so when you get to graduate with the person that you love!
This was the reality for Adam and Emma King in September 2024 at the NEBOSH Graduation. We were lucky enough to speak to them both following the ceremony about their achievements.
Adam is the Group SHEQ Director and member of the executive team for Beauparc. He has the National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NGC), the Environmental Management Certificate, the Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Professionals (NDIP), the National Diploma in Environmental Management (EDIP), and The MSc in Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Management. Emma is the SHE Manager for Derby Homes and has the NGC, Certificate in Fire Safety and the NDIP.
We asked Emma about why she chose to take the jump into the HSE profession. She said “The links I had from working in risk were already established. It was a matter of adding the practical aspect for the transition into health and safety, which I did with the NEBOSH General Certificate and a move to work as a contractor at Rolls Royce as a Health and Safety Officer. I have now been in the profession for a number of years and work as the SHE manager for Derby Homes.”
Support is an important thing for all marriages but especially when you’re both studying alongside working and looking after children.
Ensuring they both gave each other time during the week and weekends was important for both of them to allow each other to have the necessary time to focus on their qualifications. Allowing the both to earn a living, study and gain a vocational qualification.
Adam has already jumped onto a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Hull where he completed the MSc and Emma is undertaking the NEBOSH EDIP.
