Louise was voted ‘Most Influential Person in Health and Safety in the UK’ in 2018 and was also the NEBOSH Graduation Guest Speaker in 2019. Health and safety became a key part of Louise’s life when her brother Michael lost his life in a workplace incident. She has since dedicated her time to sharing his story, inspiring individuals and organisations to improve health and safety.

Louise joins Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery and Lord Jordan of Bournville as NEBOSH Ambassadors. Their influence and expertise will support NEBOSH to achieve its charitable aims. Together, NEBOSH and its Ambassadors will campaign for and influence their sectors, their governments and their organisations to create even safer and healthier workplaces for people all over the world.

NEBOSH Chief Executive, Ian Taylor, said: “It is a privilege that Louise has joined our elite network of Ambassadors. When you hear her speak you cannot help but be inspired and motivated to make the world a safer place. Her message – and NEBOSH’s vision – is clear; that no one should be harmed in the workplace. I look forward to working alongside Louise as we aim to further our influence across the world.”

Louise, a trustee for health and safety charity Scottish Hazards, added: “My wee brother was only 26 years old and engaged to be married when he died in an electrical incident at work. In short, his death could and should have been prevented. So, I'll admit to being on a bit of a mission: to reduce the number of people who die or are injured in preventable workplace incidents.

“Meeting the Diplomates and their families at the NEBOSH Graduation inspired me even further in what I now do. This opportunity to work with NEBOSH is a real honour and one I hope will help to ensure others are protected from the loss of life or of a loved one.”
