NEBOSH to showcase health and safety careers at the Catterick British Forces Resettlement Careers Fair
Wednesday, 6 November 2024
NEBOSH, a leading provider of health, safety and environmental qualifications, is exhibiting at the British Forces Resettlement (BFRS) Careers Fair in Catterick this November.
The event is open to the Royal Navy, Army, RAF, Reserves, Veterans and their families, and provides a forum for the armed forces community to meet, network and explore future career options.
The armed forces instil valuable skills such as communication, adaptability, discipline, and a commitment to keeping people safe, all of which can greatly benefit service leavers pursuing new careers in health and safety. The profession also offers opportunities in every industry and in almost every country around the globe.
NEBOSH will be showcasing its range of qualifications at the Fair. Many of these qualifications can be funded by the Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme, offering technical and professional skills to support individuals in their pursuit of a new career.
Lisa Kirkbride, a former Royal Military Police Officer, used ELC to fund the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. She now works as a Health, Safety and Facilities Manager for Pioneer Foodservice in Carlisle. Lisa says: “Having been a Royal Military Police Officer in the Army for 25 years, I was naturally inquisitive and completed a number of appointments where I was required to carry out health and safety duties or accident investigations. A career in health and safety seemed like a natural step when I left the Army following the completion of my contract. While I was waiting for my current opportunity in a health and safety role, I was employed as a transport manager, which required me to carry out accident investigations and safety audits.”
The BFRS Careers Fair which takes at Catterick Leisure Centre, from 09:30am – 13:00pm on 28 November. It is free to attend by registering here: https://www.bfrss.org.uk/events/1095679/
