Monday, 3 July 2023
Rob Hull has been announced as the new Chair of NEBOSH, an international health and safety awarding organisation and charity. He will take up the position from July 2023.
Rob joins NEBOSH with extensive experience in education, training and charitable organisations. Following a civil service career that encompassed national education and training policy, including qualifications and occupational standards, Rob has held a range of non-executive roles in education and training organisations. He has been a governor of schools and universities, and is currently Chair of the New City College Group in the UK.
Rob’s non-executive experience extends also to charitable organisations; he was Chair of Islington Giving in London until 2021, an initiative that brought together charitable foundations, businesses, housing associations and other stakeholders to tackle social problems arising from poverty and inequality.
Rob commented: “The health and safety profession is a particularly vital one. The people within it are dedicated to safeguarding the wellbeing of others and I am excited to be part of this special community.
“NEBOSH leads the way in providing a high educational benchmark for the profession and I am committed to ensuring this continues. More people in more countries should be able to work safely each and every day; I hope that my experience in education, training and charities, along with expertise in quality and governance, will advance us closer to our vision of a safe and healthy world of work.”
The new Chair will lead NEBOSH’s Board working alongside the leadership team to further the impact the charity has on the global health and safety profession. Alongside newly appointed Chief Executive Andy Shenstone, he will guide the development of a new strategy that delivers educational excellence, rigorous standards, collaboration with like-minded organisations and an enhanced social purpose programme.
