Qualifying Periods

The latest result for each unit is shown on your URN. If a higher mark was achieved at an earlier sitting, this result is also shown and indicated in the ‘High valid mark’ column.

A Pass must be obtained in all units within a five-year period in order to achieve this qualification. If you require additional time to complete your qualification you may apply to extend the validity period of your units. Please contact your Learning Partner to discuss the possibility for a unit validity extension.

Special consideration

If your Learning Partner has submitted a request for special consideration on your behalf and this has been acknowledged by NEBOSH, then this will have been considered prior to your result being confirmed. For full details, see our Special Consideration Policy

If you have received a refer result

If you have received a refer result you have not achieved the required pass standard. To allow you to successfully achieve the qualification you will need to make arrangements to re-sit the assessment, which can be done by contacting your Learning Partner.

If you have received a void result

If you have received a void result on your practical assessment but you believe the correct assessment was sent to your Learning Partner, please contact your Learning Partner and ask for a redeclaration.

The deadline to notify NEBOSH of a redeclaration request will be 20 working days after the Results Notification Date, any request received after this date will not be accepted, and you will need to be registered to a new submission date.

If your result does not meet with your reasonable expectations

NEBOSH does support the rights of learners and/or Learning Partners to request a clerical check and/or a remark of an assessment. For further information see the Enquiries about Results (EARs) procedure.

All requests must be received, with full payment, within 20 working days of the results notification date (please refer to the results expected date on your Unit Results Notification). Requests received after this date cannot be processed.

Please note: This service does not provide feedback on performance and by requesting this service there is no guarantee that a mark will be adjusted upwards after a re-mark.

It is also important to note that a mark may also be adjusted downwards following an Enquiry About Result.

NEBOSH does recommend that you discuss your results with your tutor prior to submitting an Enquiry About Result.

How your overall grade is calculated

(2014 specification)

Once you have achieved a ‘Pass’ in all units the aggregate mark from all units is used to determine the qualification grade, according to the following criteria:

Please note the grading criteria does not apply to individual units.

  • Distinction, 210 marks or more
  • Credit, 180 – 209 marks
  • Pass, 150 – 179 marks

(2018 specification)

Learners who are successful in both units will qualify for the National/International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

The qualification grade is based on the NG1/IG1 single unit result according to the following criteria:

  • Distinction, 75 marks or more
  • Credit, 65 – 74 marks
  • Pass, 45 – 64 marks

If you have completed your qualification

Please accept our congratulations on your achievement. Your qualification parchment will be sent to your Learning Partner within 20 working days of the original result notification date (please refer to the results expected date on your Unit Results Notification).

How your name will be printed on your qualification parchment

Your name will appear on your Qualification parchment as shown overleaf. Names exceeding 60 characters may appear over two or more lines.
